Default VHF Radio broke!

I have a VHF hand-held radio'Standard Horizon-Model CMP25B', which I was given.

See linki: http://www.standardhorizon.co.uk/pro...ucts_id=100015

Or West Marine (similiar):
http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs...classNum=50163

The connector plug at the end of the cord, has what looks like a 10 pin connector. The is the end plug which screws into the antenna adapter I believe, has a disconnected 'green wire'. I suspect all the wires attached attached to this plug are 'color-coded', does anyone know what the 'green wire' controls? Transmit, Receive, etc?

I have searched the internet for a repair facility to fix the connetcor plug and cable, and all shops work on a flat-fee between $75-100 and hr, plus parts. I can purchase an entire brand new unit from West Marine or similiar for about $100.?/-.

Any local companies around the lake, which could fix this type of repair, before I decide to purchase new?

Thanks,
Bigdog

Default Ground?

Green is often the color for a ground wire. Does it look like in the past it was secured by a grounding screw? Just a thought.

Doing a google of this, it looks like the CMP-25B is only a remote microphone for other radios.

http://www.standardhorizon.co.uk/pro...roducts_id=921

I don't mean to sink your boat, but do you really think it's a complete VHF radio?

This is a remote microphone that should work with model VM3500E, GX1500E and GX3000E radios.

Or are you saying you have the entire radio, but this mic is broken?

If the green wire is broken in the connector, then there should be a wire post that's missing a wire, and it should be obvious where it should be re-attached.

Understood Rich, I agree, a post is missing the green wire.

The issue is you cannot access the post b/c the cable ends in a molded plug piece, with the 10 wires coming out, then attaches to the plug end which has a cap threaded piece, which screws over the antenna feed.

Not sure if I explained it properly so you undersatnd, but the neither plug slides in it's casing. so there is no room to solder.

I think when I post a couple pictures, you will understand clearer.

Thanks,
Bigdog
