Default Quality service for Honda Outboard

I would appreciate any suggestions regarding service for a Honda BF 90 outboard in the lakes region.

Nice 4 stroke but it smokes when you first start the engine (particularly if the engine was left trimmed all the way down). I suspect oil seepage and perhaps it needs a valve adjustment. The motor has done this since it was new (note, the engine now has 525 hours). As I purchase the motor new, I did have it in once for the suggested service and the repair shop claimed they adjusted the valves but I have my doubts...

Thanks...

www.riveredgemarina.com on Little Squam in Ashland. The Honda's out number the Mercury's by about five to one at River Edge, so they get a lot of Honda experience. Mostly small-25-40-50-75-90 for Squam size boats.

Valve adjustment has Nothing to do with smoking when you start the engine with a 4 stroke engine. Outboard or otherwise. Two strokes will smoke briefly when started up. This is normal. My 1986 350 V8 Mercruiser has a little over 600 hours. No smoke. NB
