Where can I find a decent Kayak?
I am going to take up kayaking in the spring, and I am looking for a decent kayak that is between $300 and $400 dollars. I don't care if it's used or new. I want a sit-on-top one, and I'm looking for one for somebody over 200 lbs. I weigh 210. I want an orange or one that can easily be seen by boaters. Does anybody know where to buy one? Who sells used ones? Thanks

kayak
I bought 2 from LL Bean a couple of years ago. They are sit ins but are very comfortable and not tippy at all. Each cost about $400. They easily hold over 210 lbs ( I hear)

You might try Craigslist:
http://nh.craigslist.org/search/boa?...min&maxAsk=max Looks like a lot for sale. The one in Sutton is a bright yellow, sit on top and asking $450. |

Keep a eye on the sales at Dick's Sporting Goods. They have a good selection, and when on sale, good pricing.

Where can I find a decent Kayak?
Hi.......
Just as a suggestion. I bought my 2 kayaks from a company that was in business which actually 'rented' kayaks'. Both my 'Yaks' are 'Old Town' Brands, and fit my needs perfectly ! They had a few scratches on them, but you'll do that after one outing with a new one ! Paid about 1/2 of original price. Business was turning over their inventory for new Yaks for next season. If you know of any businesses in Lakes Region who rent 'Yak's' give then a call and 'ask', you never know what they may do for you ! They even threw in the paddles and a couple life-jackets ! I was looking for a decent inflatable that I could use on the hook, paddling around during the day, heading to shore. West Marine had a couple that looked promising, but I didn't know how much problem it would be inflating/deflating and storing on board.

To give a local business a boost, the Gilford Wal-Mart looks like it has about three Pelican 9', beginner style, blue & white plastic kayaks for $239.94 each. Believe they have adjustable foot rests which are a big help when paddling. Do not know if that price includes a paddle? With the Wal-Mart easy return policy, you can use them for up to three months and then return them just because they do not fit too well......no fool'n! Wal-Mart wants your kayak to fit you right!
