Default Fisher

Saw a beautiful and good size Fisher today on Long Island. We were bicycling along towards the end of the island, about 200 yards from the landing at around 9:30 a.m. and a large Fisher went across the road. After crossing the road, the animal stood on its hind legs and looked back across the road as if waiting for smaller kin to cross. We waited awhile but nothing showed up. This was a beautiful animal. I hear they can be ferocious for their prey (fox, racoons, other small mammals).

Yes we lost our 18 year old orange fat cat to a fisher, The Fisher took Bambi right off the picnic table on our porch. All we found were a few patches of orange fur. A week later a friend down the street heard it going after his cat and was able to rescue his cat but not before big vet bills.
