Debris in the water

Does anyone have a report on the level of debris in the water this year? We may be going up this weekend and I was wondering if there were any eyewitness accounts on how much debris is in the water. We will be careful as always, it is just deciding between slowly moving across the lake or getting on plane that we are struggling with.

In the past few days, a dock bubbler warning sign drifted into our dock and we saw a 3/4 sunk rowboat bobbing by. As the water rises to a high point since last fall, there will be items swept into the lake over the next few days. Keep an eye out!

Wasn't bad at all on last Friday or Sunday, you'll be fine just keep the speed in check and your eyes open.

If your going to cruise the lake I'd be a little more carefull

I was on plane last weekend with my eye fixed on what was ahead... not a lot of debris... I did pick up a huge chunk of dock post.

This weekend may be worse with the higher water levels... but we are still way below last year for lake height.

If there is no wind then it is easy to see the debris as you are moving along.. with waves it is much harder to see in time to slow down or veer around.

We were up last Friday and picked up a tarred 4'x8' piece of plywood that looked like the roof to a bobhouse. Other than that though it really didn't seem that bad.

Thanks for the info, it looks like it will be a cold ride over from the current forecast. But any time at the lake is good.

We have made three round trips out to Welch and our ride back this morning was the 1st time that no blocks of wood were picked-up.

Last night was our 1st overnight of the year, complete with stake house tips from the Wine'ing Butcher, a sunset and a nice fire in the woodstove.

I found a waterlogged dock piling floating at high water—shipped some water into my boat—and still could barely haul it over the gunwhale. Returning to my dock—which was nearly level with the lake—it was actually much easier to unload it!

After watching this move back and forth, night and day (as my aching back improved) I hauled this after Ice-Out.

As the southeast wind increased today I saw a dock section, approx. 5' x 5', coming up the lake along the MOUNT's Center Harbor-Wolfeborough route. Also have been seeing tree limbs of various sizes... not as many as last year, but still there.

Iceout was a lot tamer this year but this week's sudden rise in the lake level to slightly above-full has probably caused the water to loosen objects that had been sitting on dry land a couple weeks ago. When the wind picks up I see a lot more stuff floating than when it's calm for a couple days.

We have been here most of the week and fished out a 4 foot 2x4 today (end of dock). Otherwise it has been better than average to us.

We are at the lake now, we have made a few trips back and forth to WAM and have picked up a twelve pack of empties one at a time and two large chunks of wood.

It was better than I thought it would be.

I am glad we brought bio bricks to burn, it's keeping the house nice and toasty! The trip up the stairs catting them was tough, but now it was worth it.

Nice Job! Good to see people caring enough to clear out the lake. I bet you burned some fuel pulling that!
I was out Sat and Sun (5/10 - 5/11) was mostly clear. I went from Alton bay to Paugus. I pulled 3 2x4's about 4' long out. AND already pulled a water bottle, and dunkin donuts cup and a freebie - a bumper.
Already finding litter and so few boats on the lake.

I was diving Moultonboro Bay and Greenes Basin yesterday. Picked up (3) sections of 2x4, ea. about 3-4 feet long, a 1 gal. plastic jug, and an inflated tire mounted on a rim-big too.

It was nice flat water all day-can't say I would have seen all of this stuff if it wasn't.

Water temp-47 degrees.
