Default orange buoy question

We were over at the sandbar by Sleepers yesterday and noticed several orange buoys close to shore. They've always been there, but I've never thought much of them. Does anyone know if they have any particular meaning? Is that a designated swim area? Are boats supposed to stay outside of them?

I actually just posted a thread regarding a very similar issue- those markers are marking 150' from shore, and you are not supposed to be between those markers and shore when you are anchored. That sandbar is a "no rafting zone"- I'm not sure how to create a link to the other thread, but if you go into the general discussion section of this forum, I believe it was titled "west alton sand bar". There is some great descriptions regarding the rules. Hope this helps!

As I said in the other thread, I didn't realize that in a no rafting zone, you must be anchored 150' from shore. But that is what you are saying, right?

Default perfect, thx

I was not aware of that rule in a no-rafting zone. Nice to have learned something new before noon. Now I can take the day off.

This was new to me as well- but I guess when an area is marked as a "no rafting zone", you do need to be anchored at least 150' from shore. I've been boating a long time, and I guess there is always something new to learn.

I am glad I am not the only one. Thank you for the reply. I thought I knew most of the rules too, but this one was new to me. I also have been boating ever since I was old enough and guess you are right, there is always something new to learn.

Default just to add to the confusion

Looks like the markers over at Braun are white and at 75 feet. Go figure.
