Default Water temp

Just noticed that as of today (03/28) the lake temp is 33 degrees. The temperature is way below where it should be. Ice out may take until memorial day with this cold water.

Thinking Patriots day may be a week too soon this year. The pics below are what I should have been looking at 3 weeks ago. There was a 2 week time lapse between pics and that is usually a few days time.

I am currently looking at two pickup trucks parked side by side right by nipple rock. They had to drive across the ice a long way to get out there!! Still must be plenty of ice to hold that kind of weight...or not!!

....oh yeah....just a-look at that....the water temp is something like 5-degrees colder than what it usually is right now ...being about 34-degees as opposed to 39-degrees....just a-looking at the temp charts for the last 15-years...

....and...just take a gander at the U.S. and Canada snow cover map that shows the snow cover on the ground right now for new england and eastern Canada....

.... u-know what ..... this is not southern Florida..... no-way!

I went fishing Sunday and took the snowmobile and I covered most of the lake. I drilled holes from Center Harbor to Alton bay. From Center Harbor to Long Island the ice was 25 to 27 inches thick , From Winter Harbor to Rattlesnake it was close to 30 inches in a couple of spots. Wolfeboro was the same and the ice is black with very little air in it. I didn't make it into Moultonborough neck but I drove my truck yesterday from the area of Smith Point to Chase Island pulling a trailer so just saying this isn't a pre April fools joke we still have at least three to four weeks to go.

Bizer loves statistics.

Based on history, the average ice out date is April 19th with a standard deviation of 9.4 days. February/March temperatures were more than one standard deviation colder than normal. Unless April is significantly warmer than normal, I'd put my money on a May ice-out.

The inconvenient truth is that it global warming did not reach New England this year.

I don't see ice out happening anytime soon. The mount may even have to postpone its Mother's Day cruise. I think Opechee will be open soon though, that never really freezes that much, there's too much current there.

According to the water temp page, it is 54-degrees at the surface.

Well, the temp at the surface is fine, but don't dive down!

Default Cooked fish

All you need is a little lemon and you can eat the fish right off the hook.
