We took a ride over to long island last year and saw one sitting in someones backyard on one of those big propane tanks. Fortuneately had the camera and got out and took some good shots (my screen saver now). I thought it was fake at first until he spun his head around. We got pretty close to him without spooking him

Awesome pic!!! I saw an owl, not sure what kind, at night sitting on the telephone line to our house. Not something you see in the greater Boston area too often. I thought maybe my letter for Hogwarts had arrived.

Great pic. They blend in so well you never know they are there, so kudos for spotting it. Owls have been my nemesis as far as getting pictures of since I moved up here. Only got a few so far. Got this one through my window back in October last year. Facinating birds of prey. Very quiet in flight. I only got this pic because I heard it in the tree....
