Ski Rope Advice

Looking for advice or ideas on attaching the ski rope to my boat. Not sure of the right word to describe it--but I have a round vertical mounting with a rod through the middle of the rin (kinda like a raised finger). I have always wrapped the rope around the mounting a few times and then put the end of the rope around/on top of the 'finger.' My problem is that after skiing the rope has been pulled so tight that it ends up really difficult to remove; also has a tendency to fray the ropes at that point.

Anyone have a better suggestion for how to do this?

Seriously - take your line and loop it through the larger ring and attach it to the "finger" and pull it down through the ring - to secure it. Do not wrap it around - just loop it through and secure it.

Most ski rope is the braided polypropylene rope that floats. It jams even with the best of knots—the bowline. The loosening process in any kind of rope can be started by hitting it with a hammer. (But not while attached to the boat

).

Braided polypropylene has the saving grace that it is easily spliced.

To make a new loop, just cut off the frayed part, tape the tip, and thread the loose end back through any part of the standing line. (For about nine inches). Easy-peasy.

I have a bowrider with an I/O and have doing a lot of wakeboarding this summer. I want to know if anybody has any ideas how I can raise the tow eye hook higher than just a few inches off the swim platform for better boarding. I know it's not a true ski boat but there must be a better way to keep the rope out of the prop wash. Any suggestion? Thanks
