Default What to do......

Visitors coming this weekend to ski......I think not! Need a back up plan for parents and a 16yr old. Indoor activities around the lake?

Thanks!

Its winter....bundle up and ski. Probably be short lift lines at Gunstock, you'll get your moneys worth. Sixteen years old.......he/she probably waits at the bus stop with a t-shirt on. If its too cold at the top of the Mt, go tubing

I was going to type "go see the primary candidates speak" but thankfully, they have left us for warmer climes.

Maybe a campfire and s'mores night?

Default Cold forcast

They are expecting 40 below windchill factors Saturday afternoon into Sunday. They say frostbite can occur in 10 - 15 minutes. It will be really cold on the mountain!!

Default wind chill chart.

Here's the chart...do your own figuring. It can happen rather quickly. When I was stationed in Alaska, temps lower than 5-10 below were definite cause for concern for frostbite, and below zero, always wore gloves. You could leave skin from your hand on a door know without gloves. With the forecasted temps, this artic weather survivor would say stay home. For what it is worth, the ski area at Eielson shut down at -20, and they wouldn't let you on the slope if you were not properly attired for the temps.
