Question Bow Tents

We're looking for some input folks may have on bow tents, or other sun cover solutions. Our little one likes to play and take naps in the bow, but on hot sunny days it's nice to offer some more protection and cover while at anchor. Taylor Made makes the "BoaTent" (http://www.overtons.com/modperl/prod...&pdesc=BoaTent) which is one option.

We were also thinking of having a custom top made that would zip into the front of the bimini, extent forward and perhaps use the bow cover snaps to hold down the sides. Maybe just a forward bimini with side curtains/screens for sun protection. The solution would of course only be used while docked or anchored.

Has anyone seen or used other solutions or have other ideas?

I believe what are looking for is called a "dodger." It's a small hooped coverring over the bow with a piece to keep spray from enterring at te forward end.

Good luck!

Default BoaTent

We use the tent in our boat. Works well when anchored or at the pier as long as there's not too much wind. We bought it at Overtons.

Default canvas

I would say take the pic from the Overtons catalogue, and maybe pics of your boat with some measurements and some ideas to Tom at The Canvas Guys over on 11B (shameless plug). I have seen some of his custom work. Look at the picture wall in his shop of some of his projects and you may come away with some good ideas.

Default Roger Dodger

Thank you for the suggestions. A Google search on Dodgers yielded some excellent ideas and photos of what we're looking for. Next up, seeing if we can make it happen with some custom canvas work.
