Default Pretty Cool New World Record

http://www.cnn.com/video/?hpt=hp_t3#....seven-network

SOmething like this would be so cool to do on the lake, right down the broads or from Meredith to the Weirs.

Default Hmmmmmm

Agree that would be cool on Winni but would they have to have 145 observers on the boat to be legal? Would the Mp pull them over to check?

I wonder what the top speed of the Mount Washington is and how much trouble it would create to try this on Winni? The tow vessel in the video is huge. The horse power and torque to get that many people (145 x 180 lbs = 13tons) out of the water to skiing speed makes me envious!

That vessel looks like a high speed type ferry, I do not think the mount could achieve the speed needed, but definiatley would be able to pull the weight.

I do not know of a vessel that could do it on the lake, but there are plenty in the Harbors on the coast

Default Ah,the good old days

Back before we were protected from ourselves, a neighbor was successful at pulling 10 skiers. His boat was only able to pull 5 out of the water after a long while. The other 5 were transferred from 2 other boats and ropes handed off. Yup, only 1 spotter.

Default M/V Mount Washington

The mount normally does about 21 knots and I doubt that the new cats are even close to be opened up. I think that it could pull all them and with spotters on board looking out for the MP. Coarse if I recall I don't think its legal to even try that. Hey Ken maybe the PT could have done that.

Default Saw this on the news

I saw this yesterday on the news (we have to watch CNN, FOX and Weather Channel at work) and said to one of the young guys that we need to try this with the Mount! Looks like fun...anyone up for trying this at next year's Forum Fest?

Lets see.....12', flat bottom plywood boat, leaks alot and has an 18 HP outboard. Just might do it! I know that you would have given it a try.

Current law requires 1 spotter per skier or rider in towed crafts. So we need to add another 13 tons riding in the boat!

I would love to show those Aussies what Yankee ingenuity is all about.

Need to add a couple of Parasailers in to get the good shots of the action.

How did you get 7 on 2 ski's let alone 5 on 1. We find it hard getting one person up on a pair of ski's let alone 7, and five on one, lots of balance to do that.

If something like this were to be attempted here, you could probably get an exemption by having some combination of 'chase' boats, personal signal gear and a temporarily closed area. Plus a ton of insurance and a few good lobbyists.
