Default ...spring has sprung?

For a March 4th, it seemed at least a little odd to me that I could go rake leaves, working on the spring clean-up on my 1/4 acre lot. The snow is at least 95% gone, the leaves had been drying out, and the temp was about 45, so I got out the rake and square trash can and started raking. All the leaves & pine needles that didn't get raked last November were still there? How's that happen?

Spent about four hours on the leaves, and at the same time, took notice of two speedy, two-stroke snowmobiles that were zooming out across the frozen lake. During one run, they skimmed across the 150' of open water between Horse Island and the main....probably just look'n for someplace to go skimming.

Ya never know....that big, two-foot snow storm ...could be just a week ahead? Leaves would be better if they was like snow and just melted away!

I spent the day giving the cars a good cleaning and then cooked outside for the first time this year. Lovin' it! Spring can't come any sooner now. Can't wait to get the kayaks out!

Things reallly are weird!

Coming back from a VT ski weekend, we passed through the Rt 93 / 89 intersection at about 10:30. Smoke everywhere, fire trucks, etc. Figured it was a car fire.

Nope! An out of control brush fire. In early March, in central NH! Who wudda thunk?

Default Going out on a limb...

To say that it won't look much like Spring here after next weekend. If I'm wrong, I'll be happy to let whoever wants to cut off the limb that I am on.
Don't get me wrong, I'm ready for Spring, I just don't think we're done with winter yet.

Default Not much snow left in the area

Based on the area snow coverage map from yesterday I would say not much time left for ridding in the great north woods

Default Birds are about also

I was outside today listening to the birds with their mating sounds. I actually took a few minutes to look and listen for the perspective mate. I am sure somewhere in the relm of nature nest will be built. Gotta love spring time.
