Default Beautiful day up there today

Today was a really nice day around the lake. I was pleased to see that there were still plenty of trees in peak color.

I left MA at 9:00 AM under rainy skies and found plenty of sunshine when I pulled off 93 on to 104 in New Hampton. I stopped to investigate some lots for sale in the Waldron Bay neighborhood in Meredith, retrieved my boat from Shep Brown's after some warranty repairs and then dunked it in the water at the Lee's Mill ramp to make sure everything was OK. Unfortunately I did not have time for an extended cruise, the lake looked perfectly calm. I then delivered the boat to Andy at Complete Marine Care in Tuftonboro where it will spend the winter and returned to MA via routes 171, 16 and 95. Other than the construction and heavy police presence on route 16 it was a great day to be out and about.

Yes indeed. The lake was perfectly calm, without even a ripple for most of the day. Warm temps. Sunshine. I was out in short sleeves all day. And the follage is spectacular in many spots. Lots of red and yellow all over.

My sister and I went kayaking this afternoon. It was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Also my feet did not get that cold when I walked into the water to get in my kayak. I wish the warm weather would continue all through November and every month thereafter.

Default Took a spin

Had the day off and took a spin. I'm surprised how low the lake is at this time of the year. It was not low at Paugus Bay. I notice it around Moultonboro Bay. I hit the sand bar off Melvin Village and I usually cruise through there. Still a lot of color.

Will be taking the boat out soon.

Default Thursday

is when I'll be making my last ride. I hope the weather forecast holds. There is nothing like the feeling of being the only one on the lake. It's kind of selfish, but it's a nice change from the chaos of the summer. I hate to see it end

It was unexpectedly sunny through most of the day. Short sleeves would have been my preference—maybe shorts as well.

Most of the leaves falling at my place were bright yellow,so the reflected atmosphere was of a golden sunny brightness.

Large groups of Loons were congregating, and "talking" to one another.

A few kayaks took advantage of the warmth and paddled by. The lake stayed a flat calm, so it seemed even warmer than the temperature would indicate.

How'm I doing?

I was up last weekend and took a ride Saturday afternoon. Colors in the leaves definately got brighter in just one week, must of been the rain we got. But a reminder that winter is right around the corner is when we drove out towards Long Island and looked to the left at the panoramic views of the White mountains, and in between all the brighly colored mountains, Was Mount Washington, covered in snow

Default A beaut

One of the toughest parts of working in a home office on the lake is watching all the boats having fun on a warm late October day. The temperature hit 60, the water was flat and the scenery was beautiful. At least 20 boats went by. As the French say, work is one of the tragedies of life.
