Default how to catch a salmon

I'm fairly new to fishing and would love to learn to catch a salmon. Can anyone recommend a fishing guide service or fishing charter service.

Go to www.fishlakewinni.com for lots of helpful information. Travis at coolwater charters is a wonderful guide. www.fishlakewinni.com is his web site.

fishlakewinni.com is a excellent resource if you search through the message board. There hasn't been much meaningful information in the past few years but info came more freely years back until it seemed everyone on the lake became very good.

Its a trolling game so there is some more investment than say buying a snoopy rod and going after smallmouth. A few simple leadcore combos off the back is the least expensive way to start. AJ at AJs Bait and Tackle is probably the best authority on gear and technique on the lake who is not a guide.

Speed control is one of the biggest keys so hopefully you have a good gps to accurately guage speed. .2-.4 difference in speed makes a huge difference.

Going with a guide is the best way to learn quickly. Pay attention and make mental notes...ask questions. There are only a few weeks left for the season and the fishing is much better in the Spring so it might be a good idea to wait out the winter.

I agree with Dan on Glen Leathers (Island Fishing Charters). He's a great guide. Early this season he came out with me on my boat and I learned tons. More importantly as the summer progressed I sent Dan several notes with questions and he gladly answered them all. Great guy...as a side note, I wish this forum had more fishing activity.
