Default Fireworks for the 4th

Does anyone know who (towns, or what ever) are hosting fireworks on the lake this year. We are new to the area and just wondering.

Thanks,

Lucy Goose

Thumbs up Meredith Bay

There is an excellent show in Meredith Bay at the Town Docks in Meredith. Just in case you dont know where it is it is at the intersection of Routes 3 and 25.

Just boat around the lake after dusk and you will see many private displays all weekend. The better the weather, the more you will see. The town events are great, but are only part of the show. Its amazing the money people put into their private displays. It is also amazing that the loons stick around after so much noise in what is normally a quiet environment.

Thank you everyone. Would love to boat around but we are new to our boat and don't think we will be attempting night cruising until next year.

Are there any in the Melvin Bay area?

Melvin has never had public fireworks. Wolfeboro does every year.

We went to the Wolfeboro fireworks a few years ago in my then 18' bowrider. I had always wanted to watch from the water and was quite enchanted being out there with all of the other boats.

I was quite dismayed after the fireworks were over and all of the boats headed out of the harbor. I could not see where I was going for all the boats and lights. Most were not going headway speed but bow up, stern down throwing huge wakes. My little boat was tossed all over the place and I was very frightened.

I finally made my way out of that boiling soup and have never ventured into the harbor again.

I will lurk outside of the harbor where the fireworks are still viewable, but I am at the head of the exiting group.

I think it is a good idea to learn to drive at night before you venture into any of the fireworks venues via boat.

Default waiting is the key

I agree, IG, with waiting. My old boat is still the only boat and it is a 19' bowrider. It does handle the waves and wakes well, but by waiting 20-30 minutes, you can avoid most of the impetuous idiots that had to be as close as they could get to the fireworks and yet wanted to be the first to get by Little Barndoor .

Also, instead of going between Little Barndoor and Sewall Point, you can go out by Bob Bahre's place. It can be a good way to go when heading to Alton, and may not be bad heading to R I (and before any asks, no, not Rhode Island )

Default Just Wait

If your uncomfortable leaving the bay when everyone else does, ( I agree it can be intimidating) why not just stay anchored for 10 or 15 minutes until the bay is empty??

Default Wolfeboro fireworks on land

I have watched the Wolfeboro fireworks on land for years. If you go, get the schedule of all the events and enjoy the pre-fireworks entertainment( band concert, walk the town, street vendors). Parking can be a problem but try Bay street or Varney rd. Don’t try to go thru town afterward and do park on the north side of town. I have spent 2 hours just getting from the inn to Brewster. You can watch the fireworks from downtown or Brewster field.

Across from Melvin there will be a display. Time TBD - depends on when we finish dinner.

I can't compete with the town budgets, but I don't have any traffic to deal with afterwards.
