Default Boat Lift Cover

Don't have a lift but want a cover installed at my dock.....tired of fighting with the mooring cover every time we come back from a day on the lake.
Any recommendations?

Default Permit?

I may be wrong but I'm under the impression that they require some sort of permit.

Actually, just googled it, what is unclear to me is, is this an honor system or is a real permit required.

Is a permit required for a canopy over a boat slip?
Seasonal canopies may be permitted in areas where they do not obstruct views from adjacent properties. Canopies must be constructed of a removable frame and the fabric must be removed during the winter.

I used Image Awnings in Wolfeboro who designed, installed, removes, and stores the awning in the off season. 800 339 7273 I am sure they can give you guidance and options for your dock.

They worked in conjunction with Watermark Construction. Permits are required.

My neighbor installed a lift with an attached awning. The life sits on the lake bottom, and the awning and lift are removed in the winter.

This system works well for him. The old regulation limited an awning to 30 feet in length.

Good luck with your project.

Cobalt, you said the old regulation limited the length to 30 feet. Can they be longer now?

We also use Image Awning and don't know if they still do, but at that time, they got the permit for us too.

Default Forty feet must be permanent dock, right?

This length must be for a permanent dock, right? My friend just bought a house on Winnipesaukee, and he applied for and received approval for a 60ft seasonal dock. He did have a civil engineer do the surveying including the depth of the water going out from his property. The approval came in with instructions as to setbacks from the property line, and the fact the dock was to be installed parallel to the property line.

Just questioning the length... back to the dock covers.

I said old regulation because I installed the dock and awning about 7 or 8 years ago, and don't know if the laws have changed.

Under these regulations , a permanent dock was limited to thirty feet in length, and the canopy or awning could not exceed this length.

A seasonal dock can be forty feet in length. I don't know if there is a length limitation for an awning on a seasonal dock.

Ok, thanks. I was wondering if you were saying that they could be longer now.
