My wife drove by several days ago and said the was a sign saying CLOESD, not Closed for Vacation?

I tried their phone number today and it went to voicemail. It was not We are Closed this week for Vacation. It sounded like a canned man's voice?

I hope it is Vacation Time for them.

My wife informs me she had spoken to the owner who had said she was going to be on vacation for two weeks. I never disagree with my wife.

Yesterday the sign said "Closed, Retired. Thank You".

Sounds like a permanent vacation.

Default Meredith Bay Coffee House

If you know the owners, can you check to find out the whether they are coming back from vacation? It is a favorite haunt for us -- wonderful food and friendly staff -- beyond depressing to think it might be gone.

I can't imagine closing a shop such as this during peak season for vacation... the food business is a tough one.

Default Yes - Meredith Bay has officially Closed... :-(

I just spoke to the owners and Meredith Bay Coffee house has officially and permanently closed. The owner was planning on retiring this fall and some stuff with the grandbabies accelerated that schedule. Nothing too serious but grandmothers don't put anything ahead of the grandbabies!!!

Although I will probably lose 10lbs as a result I'm incredibly depressed to see them close. Ellen had some of the best food around.

I wish her all the best in her retirement though - she deserves it!!!!

They should put out a cookbook and sell them.

As a public service.

Default ...... gee whiz, where was that place?

I have no clue where it, the Meredith Bay Coffee was located? Was it in Center Harbor across Route 25 from Heath's Hardware?

You know talking about coffee, and with Labor Day just a few days away, Heath's Hardware will hopefully be restoring their free coffee set-up at the front of their hardware store. It was excellent coffee in a quality, red & white, True Value cup, plus they also let you have all the nails you can eat .......hee-hee-hee .....that's a joke.....get it....all the nails you can eat!!!! ...... duh ......but their free 'hardware store'
coffee was excellent, high quality coffee....just like everything else in the store ...... highest quality.....lowest price!

Maybe they could start charging 10-cents/cup just to cover their cost, and all their coffee customers would still appreciate it ....... it seems like coffee given away for free is not appreciated as much as coffee costing just 10-cents .... which is still a high value, local service.

Thumbs up

It may not be on your way to Wal-mart, but tucked away in Moultonboro, NH is the new "Cup and Crumb" where you can satisfy that specialty coffee craving, along with your favorite scones, coffee cake, etc.!

Not that it matters but are you affiliated with the C&C?

I am just noticing this question, so I apologize for my lateness in my reply. To be honest with you, my ONLY affiliation with The Cup and Crumb is the fact that my daughter is the Pastry Chef there. My comments and opinions are not biased; she truly is the best in the Lakes Region and she does not like for me to post about her. Jen is the most humble person you would ever meet! So, to see that my opinions and posts are not biased for yourself, you will just have to stop in there and make your own judgement!
