Default NH Road Toll Refund Change

Every fall I send in my gas receipts to get the refund of my road toll/tax; every fall in the past I have received my refund within a few weeks.

This fall, instead of a refund, my application was returned to me for the following reason:
"Failure to apply "Annually, no later than April 15th following the end of the calendar year" in which the motor fuel was purchased by the applicant. Application may be resubmitted after January 1, 2011.

I called the audit bureau to confirm that this was a change and indeed it is. RSA 260.47 was passed in 2008, but it is not being enforced until this year.

Bottom line: Don't send in your refund app until after Jan 1!

Thanks Super, I was wondering if i could send it in early. I tend to forget to do it once January rolls around (that's probably what they're hoping for) so was thinking of doing it now. I've been meaning to call them to ask that exact question and I keep forgetting; thanks for being the guinea pig!

Same thing happened to me. Tried to beat the rush and got the package back a week later

Same thing happened to me this year. Thought for once I would get them in early. Nope. But I'm ready for Jan 2.

Default Me too and glad for the change...

...because after I sent off the form and receipts, I found one of the receipts still in my scanner where I had made a copy of it. Now I will get my full refund in a year where I put almost twice as much gas through my boat as I did in the last two years combined. A fitting end to a great boating year!

Default here, too. but one question

Same thing happened to me. But here's the question: is there some reason other than bureaucratic rigidity for returning these applications? Why couldn't they just put the early ones in a drawer and not process them until after Jan. 1st?

There may be some logic here, but it eludes me at the moment...

Default responsibility

or at least not wanting to have the responsibility. At least they didn't just trash them and not let us know about the law change.

By sending them back to everyone the state of NH was able to incur a considerable amount of postage and thus increase its inefficiency ratio!

If anyone hasn't completed their form yet, I've taken the state's form and created fields on it so you can fill it in on your PC, then print it off and sign it. A link to the state's blank form can be found in this post. If anyone's interested in using my modified form, let me know and I can send it to you. All you need to use this form is Adobe Reader which is free from Adobe. NO PART OF THE STATE'S FORM HAS BEEN REMOVED OR ALTERED, ALL I DID WAS ADD FORM FIELDS TO SIMPLIFY COMPLETION OF THEIR FORM.

Additional notes about my modified form; I did not create fields for the Stock Record section at the bottom of page 2. Also, I only created fields for the first 5 lines in the table at the top of page 2. Columns 5 and 6 on this table automatically total on line 17. There is a "Print" button at the top left of page 1 that will open your print dialogue box to print the document. There is also a "Reset" button beneath it that will clear all text, numbers, dates, checks, etc. from all of the fields.

If anyone needs more fields in the top table or the Stock Record section, I might be persuaded to add these fields if there's enough interest.

Default Refunds

I submitted my form and receipts in early March and I haven't heard anything from the state. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there any way to followup on status?

Default About 10 weeks

to get my refund this year. Just in time to help pay for gas this year. Could be the state is trying to collect as much interest before letting go of the money, or it is already spent and they are waiting for the revenue to pay us.

Default gas refund

I submitted my bill in Jan and received it the first week of May I figured I had done the form wrong and they chucked it;. But it was just delayed

I also reported a few weeks ago that I lost my registration and the mooring decal. I was going a little further nuts. I* called the mooring people and they said to send a letter explaining that I lost it and a check for $25.00, and they said to go to a Marine Patrol Office and get my registration. I did as they directed and the service was great. This past sat I even got another decal as they said the new one did not have any 3M sticky stuff on it.

Default It's that time of year

Bumping this thread up again: We are after 1-1 and can now send in our Road toll refund form.

Look Dear, we are getting back so much more in a refund now that we have the new boat, than we did with the old boat.

What's that Dear? I don't know...I guess we did buy more gas with the new boat than we used to with the old boat, but, well, you know, oh what the heck, it's all relative.

I sent my boat gas receipts back on February 10th to the NH Road Toll Refund Department. I just called the state to inquire about my refund. I was told that they haven't even refunded all of those that were mailed into them in January. Does anyone else have an update on their refund?

I mailed mine in about a week after getting the form in the mail. I got my refund back in about two weeks. It must be all timing!

Default Tax deduction

It's not a lot of money individually, so I check the block that donates my refund to lake preservation. As a group, this could mean some good money to fight milfoil. Funds donated to your town or state should qualify as a charitable donation. This was verified when the bill passed allowing the check off on the refund application form.

I sent mine in and it took quite a while to get back compared to previous years. But it finally arrived and now I have my first few tanks of jet ski gas

Refund request was sent in to Concord in late February and have yet to receive a check. Spoke with someone there this morning who said that they had received it but that they were swamped with refunds. She said that there are only two of them working on it.

Anyone who has already received their refund should consider themselves very fortunate. I was told that it would be a month before mine would be processed.
