Marker 48 Movement
With Ice Out being imminent(fingers crossed) and knowing some folks will be out there right away thought it was time to post this warning.
The lighted Marker #48 at Smith Point and the associated black top marker are out of position. This happened back in late December during one of the heavy wind storms. The lighted marker #48 moved SSE about 50 yards and slightly closer to shore and the black top marker is gone entirely. Marine Patrol was notified at the time and they said it would be taken care of in the Spring. This is a heavily traveled route off of Smith Point. As long as you stay NORTH of the lighted marker that is still out there you shouldn't have a problem. The marker is definitely closer to the rocks it guards so cutting inside (as some do) will be a problem Hope everyone has a happy and safe start to your boating season!!!!! |
