According to posts in the other Woodshed thread, the builders told Greene's Basin Girl that it would open in March. Great Northern Cleaning has also been helping to get the restaurant ready.

This is from the old thread

I have also heard Lynn is not involved. I'll do some digging!

Across, we live a mile or so from the Woodshed, and averaged weekly visits. There are certainly lots of parties that only go on special occasions, but there are also a fair amount of regular customers.

They did a beautiful job with the building, hopefully they will do the same with the business!

Nice article, and the restaurant looks nice. Anyone guess what we're looking at for food and prices? Canoe or O equivalent? Sure would be nice to have a solid restaurant in between Village Kitchen and The Bob House. With two kids, we've come to like The Mug as well.

It will be very good, moderately expensive fare if it follows the original. The fireplace was built by one of our forum members!

Looking forward to it!

Between the VK and Bob House in price? Highly doubt it if they are recreating the general theme/feel/pricing of the original. Canoe or O equivalent is the most likely price point if that's the case.

This statement in the article pretty much sums up what will happen to the New Woodshed:

"Bradley and Haynes are in the real estate business in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, and they figured that this would be another building for their portfolio."

Maybe you shouldn't cherry pick the article quite so much? The sentences after your quote have a bit of a different tone:

"The initial plan was to find someone to operate it and lease from them. However, as time went on, they realized that this would leave them no control. They held the former location in such high regard, so they decided to own it and hire a manager to run the establishment.

Greg Branzetti was a manager at the Woodshed years ago. He has been involved with starting and running businesses for more than 15 years. He took the job as general manager for the New Woodshed in October, and he said he couldn’t be happier to get the restaurant open to continue the tradition that was started by original owners Lyn and Rex Seley.

Lyn and her husband Bob Fee, who was a former chef, have been in contact with the new owners and, according to Bradley, they will be sharing some of their recipes for the menu."

Now I don't know what Greg's Woodshed years were or how the restaurant was doing then but if him running it is the issue, you should post about that but don't grab one sentence and infer that the restaurant is doomed.

I never said it was "doomed". I just think that the owner's will eventually sell the business after they try to make it into what it once was.
I think they have done an excellent job with the new building and wish them a lot of luck.

Default Grab a sentance

The article also made reference to using the same stove Ruth's Chris uses.
If they can match or come close to the steaks and food you get at a Ruth's Chis then we have a great dining experience on its way.
This also dosen't sound like someone who is trying to take business from the VK for one thing the wine cellar sounds larger then VK or Bob Houses .
The average tab here wil probable be at the top of the scale for the area which is fine so long as the food , service and dining experience justify it.
We have all the burger, pizza joints we need.
I would expect they even take AMEX

I hear you but honestly have to believe they know that they will not get their money back- it is more a labor of love.

The old Woodshed would have done well money-wise but remember it went for $510K at auction, with fixtures and furnishings. I have not been inside yet, but they have to be in this for $3M or thereabouts.

Default New Woodshed ...

If the new owners develop a thriving business in the new Woodshed, and then decide to sell it, SO WHAT, that is their choice. The only real method of expressing your (our) feelings for whatever they do is through the pocket book. If you like what is happening - eat there, if you don't like what is happening - don't eat there.

Please, let's not get into a long, meandering conversation about the Woodshed like we did with VK and credit cards.

Maybe you should follow your own advice and do this:

If you like what is happening on this thread – read it, if you don't like what is happening - don't read it.

Sorry about that. The way I read your post sounded like you were inferring that it was a "thing" in a portfolio of real estate guys which doesn't sound like a recipe for success.

Turning this back to the important things, will they have swirler sized drinks?

If they all do that, then they will use up their once a year "special occasion" budget and would not be able to go for that "special occasion" as soooo many people love to tell us about.

the quickest way for a real estate minded individual to make a million in the restaurant industry is to start with 3 million.

the industry has changed a great deal since Greg worked open with very high expectations however online reviews tore them up primarily because they couldn't get help.the old woodshed. labor on this side of the lake is in the worst state it's been ever. Last year we saw the Canoe close for lunch because they couldn't get help. We also saw Lavinia struggle because of help issues. It's all around the lake. Sandy Point throw in the towel because of help. the breakfast place by mosquito bridge had more customers than they could serve so they chose to close. we all had high hopes for the Holy Grail but it opened to terrible reviews because they couldn't get help.

I wish them the best at the woodshed I just think we all need to wait and see before we set up expectations

I'm sure you could get both but the Skip and Go Naked was the one they were known for. They had buttons (yellow?) with the drink name on them if I recall correctly.

AM: Are you and Rusty related? You both have the same uplifting personality.

The takeaway here is the New Woodshed looks and sounds wonderful. Obviously, the owners didn't build this restaurant to make a quick buck but rather they built it as a labor of love. They sound like a wonderful family and I wish them much success which they undoubtedly will achieve. I will be a regular customer as I'm sure many other forum members will be.

I am gue$sing but family in the business opened my eyes to the cost to fit one out well, it was shocking! These folks look like they did everything really well.

Fire Dept is currently responding to a fire alarm there ...

On scene reports no cause found for alarm

Subsequent report advises it was a trouble alarm

I recently read that it will now open around Memorial Day.

As with every other restaurant around, they will struggle getting help and training which is likely pushing the date. I expect we will see some familiar faces coming back. It looks like they hire a good GM and have a good plan.

It may be a good opportunity for those in the business that may be looking for a change...

Do you know if they've had an ad that they're looking for help?
