Default Mames restaurant

Went to breakfast this morning at Mame's in Meredith.
I have t o say that the experience was frightening. First of all nobody working had a smile at all. The waitress was do the best she could but was very strapped .She t took our order in a timely manner but it was more than 40 minutes until he received our meals..
Now I ordered the Road King .3 eggs and steak tips. I ordered the eggs over easy but they cam out over very well done. Wow steak tips had a good flavor but their were only 4 small pieces of meat. My wife's omelet was dripping of grease .She used her napkin to absorb most of the excess material...

We were vewry disappointed but really didnt want to create a scene because the waitress was so nice we felt alittyle sorry for her. Itwas a disappointment to say the least and we will never enter that place again . Just thought to pass along this info. so that others wont have to experience t he same things we did..
Wish that I could have been abit more positive but there isn't much good to say of our experience.!!!

Wow.....If I never went back to every place that I had a bad experience I would have run out of places to eat. I go to Mame's pretty frequently for Dinner. Mainly in the Fall/Winter and Spring and In 8 years have never had a bad time there. Hopefully you will try Mames for Dinner, and not hold a grudge.
Hey I went back to the Canoe after I said I wouldn't.....so anything is possible! Oh Ohhh....I don't think I was supposed to tell anyone that.....

Default Love the food

In my opinion; there isn't enough nice things to say about mames. I'm an employee but was a customer first. It is a charming little restaurant with amazing food. Everyone that works there works very hard and is very nice. The owner is very nice to work for. From a waitstaff pov, if you go in on a busy night during a rush anywhere you might need to wait. Mames isn't fast food it's casual dining with a great atmosphere.

I hope they find a good buyer. Mame's could use a new menu, a little more bang for the buck would be nice, but I love it there.

Is there any news on who bought mames? I'm very curious as I used to work there and my heart is still there. It was very hard going into July without a job but all of us from mames are managing. It was very heartbreaking for us because Jon cook was such an amazing person to work for I am so fortunate to have met him at a time in my life when I really needed the stability of a good job in a family environment. I will never forget the time I spent at mame's and the amazing customers and even more amazing coworkers. John would have given the shirt off his back to anyone that needed it and he practically did to keep us all employed for as long as he did. June 28th was a very hard day for all of us especially john. I just wanted to share with you all a little story about something Jon cook did for this community over the winter. You all probably remember going to memes in the winter time and if you bring a stick of wood you would receive half of your second entree. It was a great idea and helped out with the costof Heat and also everyone did a little part of bringing would into the restaurant and you could save some money. This year however, John built a cauldron and put it in the lobby of the restaurant. Anyone who brought any non perishable item would receive A 50 percent discount of their second entree. At the end of the winter he donated all the food to the meredith food pantry. I just thought that you would all enjoy hearing that story.

John was always there when someone had a fundraiser or needed something along that line. THANKS for all that you have done for the community. I can only hope whoever decides to go in there can fill those shoe's.

You are right in your praise of John. He did our son's and daughter-in-law's wedding rehearsal dinner and reception almost 20 years ago, and both were fantastic! We have gone to Mame's many times over the years, and we were sorry we couldn't do something to help forestall the auction. Corny as it sounds, I kept buying lottery tickets with that hope! Unfortunately, that plan didn't work. I hope that John's life from now is good...he deserves it.

I believe the bank ended up taking the property

The new rules and regulations required a HUGE upgrade/overhaul of everything and it was too expensive for any new owners.

There was a dumpster being filled in the driveway a couple of weeks ago. Some friends that were visiting from MA told me that the bartender at Lakehouse said someone from there had bought it. Given that it's a 'friend of a friend told me' think, the info may be worth what you paid for it.

.

Two people bought it at auction. Not another restaurant owner.

I know the guy who bought it personally... is a good friend of mine. He has a ton of restaurant experience. He bought Mame's at auction.

The building needs ALOT of work to bring up to code... not sure what the timetable is or what the concept will be.

I hope he got the recipe for Mame's French Onion Soup along with the property... for a casual dinner coming up to the lake on a Friday night like tonight, we would eat at the bar upstairs and the soup was excellent and warmed me up before the cold trip to the island... and of course the Knob Creek Manhattan helped too

Looking forward to the new spot, please keep us posted with what you hear!!

p.s. for today's weather... "anyone around here sell arks?"... "yep, I Noah guy"....

It seemed like they were going strong for a while on the inside but things seem to have slowed down? Any update on progress or opening?

Looking forward to a new Mame's! -PIG
