Default Roofing

We need a roof on our place in Tuftonboro. Probably stay with asphalt, but may consider metal. Please pass along any recommendations and experiences you have had with local companies. Thank you!

Default Rooftop Construction, Laconia

Shawn Rueffert, Rooftop Construction, Laconia. 603-528-9430

Did our old place in The Weirs a couple years ago. Was very impressed by his cleanliness...never knew anyone had been there. If you end up going with Asphalt shingles, recommend you use the Lifetime shingles. Labor is the same to install them, and the cost per square over 25 or 50 year shingles in peanuts.

Good luck.

I'd reccommend Piper Roofing !
http://www.piperroofingandvinylsiding.com/

Bob is well know around the Lakes Region and has been in business for may years. He has done all the asphalt roofs in my condo complex, as well as install metal roofing in garages. All look fantastic !

Bob stands 100% behind his work, and will correct any issues that may pop-up after the job is long done. His workers are professional, clean-up the area completely after the job, like they were never there.

Good luck !

Metal roofing if you can afford it.

If shingle roof.
Do keep all receipts of materials. Even if contractor purchases such.

I have had two premature failures of shingles in the last 30 years.
Two different brands.
Both were 30 year shingles.

If shingles - go with architectural type/style - not the three tab.

And put in Metal Ice Belt Roof Panels.

A second vote for Piper roofing. He did our roof in Meredith several years ago. We had him come back last year for siding.
No complaints here.

We used Piper Roofing as well and would recommend him. Bob fixed an area in the back of our house where it had leaked in the past and most likely the previous owner never fixed it adequately. He did a metal valley and metal from the gutters up to about three feet in addition to ice and water shield and new roof shingles in the affected area. Hopefully a somewhat permanent fix..........

Default Piper Roofing

I also recommend Piper Roofing. They have done a number of island cottages and owners are very pleased.

Default Believe-it-ot-not

I got three proposals for a new roof. The middle price was from Home Depot with whom I ultimately contracted. Their warranty really means something given their size. The work was performed when they said it would and the workmanship was top notch.

See my comment about installation quality vs. materials in the window thread. A friend of mine is a roofer, and he says a lot of the roofing problems are caused by skipping corners. Godspeed.

Just before this thread started I had called both Piper and Rooftop Construction. Both got back to me the same day and went out and looked at our camp. We received quotes from both but have not picked one yet.

Both of them mentioned how busy they are, with the bad and seemingly "never ending winter". It's snowing in MA right now as I get ready to head up and meet with one of them today.

No big deal if contractors are backed up and repairs will take longer, but not getting back to people within a reasonable amount of time, even if it's just to say that they haven't forgotten aboutcha, has been the reason a lot of people have lost my business.

Default Rooftop Construction

We went with Rooftop Construction. I am very happy with Shawn and his crew. They had asked if they could roof without us around because it was a one-day job and they would use our job as a "filler" day.

Got a call yesterday and said they were heading over, that surprised me as there was snow down to the camp on Sunday. I was able to get to the Lake about 1:00 and they were shingling the second side. The place was very neat and picked up when I arrived, as it was when they left. I appreciate that they keep the jobsite neat throughout the job, my preferred way.

Thanks Dad……
I finally received a quote from Piper. Never heard back from Rooftop. Seeing another roofer this Sunday and will make a decision.

Thanks.

Default Roofers . . .

I know are out straight until September. No reason for that other company to not call you back.
