Default Lighted Buoy without Companion

Is there a correct "side" to pass these on, or are they just there for reference?

For instance, #6 (near Becky's Garden), is kinda out in the middle and far from a red-top. Is it out there so far so that is is visible from more locations? Or am I supposed to stay to the West of it (when heading N/S)?

Thanks,
Greg

You can do circles around that one. The spars are the only hazard reference, the FLs can mark a spar, but they don't have to.

This is a "Navigational Aide" ---- Lighted buoy without companion spar

This allows a reference point (aide) from FL #5 to #6 to #7 while maintaining deep water passage

(but don't forget the newer FL#83 Black Cat - between #6 & #7 )

.
