Default Relocation Questions

Hello Everyone;

I am considering relocating to New Hampshire this year and have a few questions. I am hoping people can help me with these. I am transgender and am wondering about acceptance in Wolfeboro. I am looking at large property in Wolfeboro as well as Sandwich. I don't know what area is better and safer. I work from home and I am semi retired and not into bar scenes so my exposure could be kept to a minimum if need be.
I have humanitarian charities that I run which is my truest passion. I need to give back. I will be supplying area churches with food for their food kitchens to help feed the hungry and homeless. So with that does anyone have advice on what area is better to live in? One has 55 acres and the other has 250. I do admit that I like acreage and privacy so that I am not shoving my transgender status down my neighbors throat as I have a tremendous respect for others. Its a difficult life but with God's help and blessings I get through it.
I do love the Mayberry feel of Wolfeboro but love being close to larger towns if need be. I am wondering if Sandwich is too off the beaten path. I am not concerned with Tourist traffic as that is what supports the town and I will admit I love the hustle and bustle. I absolutely adore Wolfeboro's Main St. I lived in Vegas and Hawaii so I understand tourists. Any Advice will be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance for any help you can possibly provide. Have a blessed day! XO

Default City vs Country

To me, Wolfeboro has more amenities close by, such as its own hospital, close grocery stores, just about anything a short drive.

Sandwich on the other hand has none of the above anywhere nearby, also no cable TV anywhere in town. Very rural, nearest ambulance is in Moultonboro, unless they are on a call. I think they have one or two full time cops, as opposed to Wolfeboro, with an army load.

It all depends on your "feel", personally, I would prefer Sandwich. Also look at the tax rate on what you would be paying on your acreage, that might be a tipping point.

I would say Wolfeboro , with Brewster academy brings a diverse culture and coupled with the towns laid back attitude makes it jive.
Not to mention the Life Ministry food pantry services a great deal of people from Wolfeboro and surrounding towns, and I am sure they could use the help.

How would anyone know if you were "transgender"?

I think Wolfeboro would be a great place to get set up in. It seems by the way you wrote the post that you want to be accepted, yet want to have your privacy. You can have that in a town like Wolfeboro. It is a small town and people do gossip, you won't avoid that where ever you go. Tourists are just that, tourists; if you want to avoid them, just time your trips into town when they are sleeping or eating, they way the rest of the locals do.
I think it isn't about what you are/were, it is about what beneficial things you will or can bring to the town that will make or break whether you like it or not. By what you said about being involved in charities, etc. I think you will become a productive and good friend of the town. I hope you choose Wolfeboro!

Thank you so much! You are correct as I would love to be accepted and yet not flaunt it. It is truly appreciated!

Really?

How does one "shove my transgender status down my neighbor's throat"? Buy the home you like and keep your personal life to your self and everything will be fine in either town.

Elizabeth, I just sent you a private message. I'm not very good at PMs, so let me know if you got it. Hopefully, it's helpful.

Default Real Post-Real Person

Hi All,
This a real person and a real post. I have PM'd this person with my 2 cents about Wolfeboro and being transgender. She replied. I think it took some guts to tell everyone on this forum about her sexual identification, but I think the main focus of this thread is about weighing the features of Wolfeboro and Sandwich. (of which there are many)

Elizabeth, I would be happy to welcome you to Wolfeboro. Cate and I are good friends who met on this forum when she was seeking to relocate to the area. She is thrilled with her life here as am I. Wolfeboro is a warm and welcoming community with many opportunities for those of us who wish to give back to our community.

Default diversity

New Hampshire is well know for its diversity , Just look at the statistics.

Well ok , perhaps the figures don't tell the entire truth .
Look at the way the former police commissioner in Wolfboro supported the President .

Diversity could be rated as " needs improvement " on the scorecard

Thank you Cate!

I am real but i think some people took what i said out of context. I rec'd a few PM's about a line i said about neighbors. What I meant was I love people and I love neighbors. I want a neighborhood where if your car cant start on a cold winter morning a neighbor with come to your assistance when they see your hood up.
What i meant about shoving in down someones throat, is I am not a person who demands that people accept me for who I am am what I have been through. To me respect and friendship has to be earned before I can expect people to accept me. I never force my beliefs or values down anyone's throat. Heck I've never ever been to a Pride parade! I don't feel anyone needs a parade to be accepted and noticed. I believe if you are alive and breathing then you deserve to be accepted for who are. I am glad we live in a world where we are different. Black, white, gay, straight, skinny or fat, republican or democrat, we are all different but definately not the same. I was with my partner for 10 glorious years. These years were bitter sweet and challenging. He had kidney failure and needed dialysis 3 times a week for the last 8 1/2 years of his life. We were never able to travel more than a day trip away due to medical treatment he needed. He never complained nor did I. It kept him alive. One Saturday he woke and was off to the races that day! He had energy, was vitalized and had a renewed will for life. His whole day was all about getting caught up with what he missed due to his health. God had a different meaning for that day as it wasn't a day for renewed hope, it was his last day on this Earth as he died that night in his sleep after his long battle with his renal failure. But he lived his last day with health, no restrictions and full of energy. I am not saying this for pity or sympathy, I am saying this that I now need to open a new door and a new start in life. I need new friends that are mine and not "ours", I need new memories that aren't filled with the memories of "us forever" as forever doesn't also come.
I have dedicated the balance of my life to helping others through my foundation. I embrace life and now know it can end quickly and without warning.
I know right now I am just someone at the other end of a post but if we ever meet in town when I move to this area, I am hoping if we meet that you come away with thoughts of how warm and genuine I am. I would never intentionally hurt anyone. I love life and all it has to offer. If I can help a few people with their illness and struggles than its all worth it. Even with my partner he died one week before finding out his only child was to make him a grandfather! I don't want others to feel this pain. I believe you need to give back to others. I believe if you have the ability to make someone else's life a bit more richer or fulfilling than its a blessing from God to witness how you helped someone in need. How you saved someone from hunger, how you helped a mother with an electricity bill or whatever need the foundation could assist with.'
I do apologize for this lengthy reply but I'm new to this and this is the very first forum I've ever entered. I am not sure I know how to send replies to or to thank all individually. Sometimes the thanks box is present and sometimes it isn't. I apologize for the lack of response to some who IM'd me. When I get a negative message sent privately I felt it was best to ignore it than it was to respond a start a battle. I am not a fighter nor am I into drama. I looking forward to a new life and I think it will be Wolfeboro.
Have a blessed evening and thank you for allowing me to vocalize my feelings.
Beth

How does it take guts to be anonymous and give your "sexual identification"?

Also I think the main focus was her being "transgender" and how she would be accepted.

It's a pretty tough question to answer...IMO anyway.

I have to agree with Rusty on this one. The way the main post was worded focused on the transgender aspect.

That being said I don't live in the lakes region but just a little south of there (Manchester area).

I work with a couple transgender people and IMO it's what you make of it. A close coworker made the switch a couple years back and her biggest hardship was not work, but family. It takes time and you can't expect or force the results you want upon others but generally speaking most people are accommodating.

Cate cleared it up fine. Apparently you don't know what internet phishing is. The op came off to me as a fake post looking to stir the pot. That's all. I said nothing derogatory. Move on.

Hi Cate:

As I read your response you haven't actually met Elizabeth so this could still be someone playing games. My personal opinion is this is a made up person but at this point it doesn't much matter. Welcome aboard Elizabeth.

True. I have not yet met this poster in person. In fact I have not met many forum members in person. Just those happy, go- lucky folks that show up at Forum Fest So... There could be a lot of fake people out there. Body snatchers. Aliens posing as humorous forum members. Clones. Cyborgs. Who knows? (Squinting eyes) We are all suspects. ( tongue in cheek)
