I've heard that Love Bites is closed and the web site seems to be down. Are they closed for the season or for good?

A while back I saw in the Registry Review that she had financial problems.

Hello Everyone,
To answer your question Love Bites is in fact closed for good, a choice we gladly made of our own volition. It has been an experience that we will never forget, some of it wonderful, and some…well not so much. We met a lot of amazing people that we will truly miss. We also learned a great deal from this experience, both from the good and the bad that we will take with us and use in the future to our benefit. As far as what we are doing now, my handsome husband and I have been given an incredible opportunity in a different area that we are very excited about taking advantage of. We will be happily moving there at the end of this school year. The Lakes Region is a beautiful area to visit and enjoy, but it is a very difficult place to make a living or have a life, more so for people like us who are truly “city people” at heart. We do however very much look forward to returning to the Lakes area in the summer months and being one of those annoying tourist families all the locals complain about. ![]() With that I can not say enough thanks to all the wonderful people who have supported us over the past few years. It truly has been a pleasure working with you. Best Wishes, Darcy |

Good luck to Darcy and family in all of your future endeavors.
I don't suppose you could leave us your recipe book?

New Hampshire may not be as hardscrabble as it once was, but with a small population base it is tougher to succeed than at many metropolitan areas. My family moved there from out of state, sought careers, and are happy, but it would never have worked for me: not enough people to support my chosen vocation. Which is a shame, really: a beautiful place with very nice people: just not enough of them (which is probably why it is still a nice place to visit). Good luck, and remember, there's always room for a great pastry shop in Portland (Oregon, that is). |

Unfortunately for me everytime we stopped by on our way home from Quayside you were closed so we never got to sample your great pastries. Probably a good thing for my waistline. Again, best of luck to you and yours.

I'll always remember Darcy for creating this fantastic cake for ForumFest V. Good luck and we're sad to see you go.

Awww Darcy I'm so sad to hear that! Yet at the same time you have a new opportunity and that's great. I wish you and your husband the best of luck. It is definately difficult to earn a good, steady living around here, and I hear you on the "city at heart" part! I truly do wish you the best, but I am truly dismayed I will never have another piece of chocolate suicide cake, or creme brulee from Love Bites...I really want to cry!
