Thanks rrr. Happy Thanksgiving to all on the forum.

For many years I have lived year round on the Broards. Many fond memories of holidays on the lake.

This year my family will be spending Thanksgiving on the Merrimack River. It's not the same as being on the Lake. I have to think that the water in the Merrimack came from the Lake.

Happy Thanksgiving to all! I'm currently in Florida getting a fix of warm weather. I think I'll get a boat tommorow to cruise the intercoastal. It's one way of getting through till next spring.

Thanksgiving

'Twas the night of Thanksgiving, but I just couldn't sleep.
I tried counting backwards, I tried counting sheep.
The leftovers beckoned -- the dark meat and white,
But I fought the temptation with all of my might.

Tossing and turning with anticipation.....
The thought of a snack became infatuation....
So I raced to the kitchen, flung open the door,
And gazed at the fridge full of goodies galore.
I gobbled up turkey and buttered potatoes,
Pickles and carrots, beans and tomatoes.

I felt myself swelling so plump and so round,
'Til all of a sudden, I rose off the ground!
I crashed through the ceiling, floating into the sky.....
With a mouthful of pudding and a handful of pie,
But I managed to yell as I soared past the trees.....

HAPPY EATING TO ALL !!
PASS THE CRANBERRIES PLEASE !!

May your stuffing be tasty,
Your turkey be plump.
May your taters 'n gravy
Have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious,
Your pies take the prize,
May your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay well off your thighs!!!

MAY YOUR THANKSGIVING TRULY
BE A BLESSED ONE THIS YEAR!!!

Thanksgiving madness here tomorrow. Can't wait to pack all the leftovers into a cooler and head up to the lake on Friday morning...taking care to avoid all malls and shopping areas along the way...for three days of R & R. Happy Thanksgiving to all! McDude

NEW TURKEY RECIPE
We should try this!
Sure to bring smiles from your guests!!
Here is a new way to prepare your Thanksgiving.

1. Cut out aluminum foil in desired shapes.
2. Arrange the turkey in the roasting pan, position the foil carefully
(see attached)
3. Roast according to your own recipe and serve.
4. Watch your guests' faces...

Let us not forget our troops who are far from home this holiday season. They are a big part of all that we have to be thankful for.

I thought it was great......I too laughed for quite a while about it and when I showed it to my wife, I got a strange look from her as well. I know what you mean by "powers that be".....I also know that that look meant I wont be seeing ANY tan lines for a while........haha......

Next bird that gets roasted in my house will have tan lines! Such a shame that some folks have no sense of humor - sorry that some of them were in your kitchen, McDude! I'll invite you over when I roast a tanning turkey - OK?

I have not cooked a turkey at my house this season yet but I will soon.I'm going to try to create the turkey "temptress" and will post photos of my results.The only question I have is,it looks like you must roast the turkey upside down.Does everyone think that is how its done? SS

I think that you would roast it as usual.
A grill using indirect heat gives you a perfectly tanned bird, all the way around. If you use a chimney to start the coals, be sure you let the smoke dissipate before putting it on. I guess the same would go if you use lighter fluid. (Can you tell that our chef made this mistake? The meat tasted smoky this time.)
I might roast a turkey for the next family event to see the look on everyone’s faces! Too funny!
