Ah, finally I get to pass on my Zamboni knowledge! I have been a Zamboni driver for 11 years. It's one of those "dream" part-time jobs. It would do a good job out there, but the "rinks" are small, and rectangular, which would be tricky to clean all the ice. The machine needs a good turning radius.
As far as events like this, it's a simple task to re-surface. Sometimes we cut a hole in the ice and get a hand-crank pump...just flood it. I think for this event, at the end of the night, they bring out fire trucks.
Looking forward to it this year. I usually go up and watch a few games. It's one of those New England special events. (gives me an excuse to go check on the summer house too!)
