Since last year, Moultonborough has begun handling boat registrations, and with any re-registration info (eg. automobile) they send out they include this one covering the option to have them handle your boat registration:

As noted in the state RSAs (
http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/rsa/...-e/270-E-5.htm), if the boat registration is processed by an agent who is not an employee of the state's department, then that agent can tack on an extra five bucks to the boat fee and keep it for their effort. Moultonborough wants to keep the boat fee local, and they want to tax you another five bucks to do it! Where is the incentive to let the town keep the money?
