These past two weeks, I've seen just two aeroplanes that fit that description—both have radial engines.

(It's easy to spot a "round engine" by ear).

One is white with pinstriping and the more frequently-encountered biplane is candy-apple red. I believe both are of Waco construction.

Are you sure they're biplane "rides"? There are privately-owned biplanes that cruise the skies over the lake: some could have been formerly located at the White Mountain Airport years ago.

BTW:
Listening to the skies this morning—easy to do in a sailboat—I caught a Russian-made Yak doing acrobatics over Rattlesnake Island: He's been out there weekends—for several years running—"doing his thing" in the same general area.

That's one more radial-engine aircraft over this lake.
