In “English” monoculture of a grass is having a single grass type covering a large area. Like golf courses and lawns of McMansions and “grass nerds.” When you lose monoculture you start to get crab grasses and other weeds and plant species.

I tend to live by what my dad told me 60 yrs ago when I asked why we didn’t put down weed killer. He said, “They’re green aren’t they?” If it grows without fertilizer, it’s good enough for me!
