Default Enviro Pellet Stoves; wood pellets

We purchased an Enviro pellet stove from Mr. Fireplace two years ago; prior to problems developing at the store. While we are very happy with the stove, we wanted to find a local Enviro dealer just in case we ever need service or parts.

A recent ad in the Laconia Sun announced that “Stargaze” is now an Enviro dealer. They are next to Lowe’s in Gilford and have been a pool and spa dealer. http://www.stargazeusa.com/ I stopped by and the owner told me that they will perform service, warranty or otherwise, on any Enviro purchased at Mr. Fireplace.

Pellets are in better supply and at a lower price than last year.

Lowe’s: now has “Greene Team” hardwood pellets at $269/ton with an additional $25/ton discount right now or $244/ton. We used 3 ton of the Greene Team last winter with good results. Low ash and very little sand.

Walmart has the same brand as last year when we tried a bag with very poor results. Lots of ash and fused sand in the burn pot..

Two years ago we had excellent results with two softwood pellet brands: Cornith from Maine and New England Pellet Co. We could not find either last winter. Very low ash, no sand, high heat output.

There is a new pellet plant in Barnstead, see article in Baysider: http://www.thebaysider.com/pdf/BAY.2009.09.10.pdf I called Lakes Region Pellets, they only sell wholesale. They are eastern white pine softwood; Clark’s in Chichester has them for $270/ton.
