Default Lakes Region is a tourist area...

...and as such caters to the tourists who frequent our area each season. To say that we have too much snow and don't need any more certainly doesn't help the many businesses who depend on the winter tourists, such as restaurants, gas stations, motels, food stores, etc. Much the same can be said in the summer about the vehicular traffic in our towns, and the boat traffic in the summer on our lakes. It's all a part of living here. Our local contractors who build, repair, and improve the properties in our area are the same people who do property management and plowing in the winter.

When we look at living somewhere, we need to look beyond tax rates and good schools. Is it a case of love it or leave it? Of course not. If we do not like winter and are planning to move to warmer climes, we can certainly hope that time will arrive sooner rather than later. In the meantime, let those who enjoy it, or even more importantly need the snow to continue their livelyhood have their success. JMHO
