Don't want to pay the eight cent tax, then don't go to McDonalds, make a sandwich at home.
You have a choice, just as you could have chosen to buy a lottery ticket like Senator Greg and had the same chance as him to win the money.
You have also forgotten to point out that the good Senator will pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in Federal income tax on his winnings. And contrary to your claims, some of that revenue will indeed find its way back to New Hampshire in the form of revenue sharing that will help subsidize your (and my) cost to society.
Assumptions are always dangerous, but being somewhat familiar with Senator Gregg's financial situation I think I can safely assume that he pays in to the various tax systems much more than his family takes out....a claim that neither you nor I can most likely make.
