I agree the signal is dependent upon topography. We are on Long Island (the high part) so we can get a reasonable signal from WWHQ 101.5.
Sometimes there is a carrier present but no material. I think they must have some microwave transmission problems from Maine. Other times they're just plain "off the air".
In any case we do enjoy the 100% classical format which is a welcome change from the rest of the clutter up and down the dial.
They run only local Maine advertising which makes me wonder if they will continue broadcasting to NH??
