Thanks Scott for both your explanation and the vocabulary lesson (interpolate).
Now, however, I've become disillusioned about the faux temperature readings. Seems as if in this era of rapid communication we should be able to view the actual temperature at a given location, not some estimate of what it might be based on someone's mathematical formula.
