Default Skiing from and to a dock or beach

I have skied when the ice is barely covering the surface in the winter when it is snowing and skied in the spring when there is ice on the lake providing the wind is blowing in the right direction. I ski off beaches and docks and back on a beach or dock and never wet.

I still do even though I know you need to stay 150 ft when coming in. Going out you do not need keep a distance. They key is being reasonable and prudence. If there are no hazards to jeopardize the safety of anyone then I consider it safe to launch and return to dock or beach. I had a discussion with the MP on this about 14 years ago and all is OK.

As for observer, I agree that there should be an observer regardless of HP. What I notice is I have seen observers as young as 7 or 8 years old and the law says the observer should be capable of assisting the skier in emergency. I have yet to see the MP pull them over.
