I worked in the Jefferson Mill, the one with the clock, for more than a decade, commuted from Moultonboro (90 minutes each way in good WX) back in the 80's/90's. No spindles going round and round, just electrons going from chip to chip and I made those electrons cooperate with humanity (as I saw fit...LOL).
I wound the clock many times... no there was no motor back then....geeezzzz, I did the crank, it was good exercise
