Holy Canoli! The ice has seen dramatic changes through the course of today!
According to the Black Cat Island Weathercam, the temperature at 2 feet below the surface is flirting very seriously with 40 degrees - WOOOOO HOOOOO! All the cams are showing serious degrading of the surface today, and over on the Silver Sands Webpage the "Old Man of the Lake" is predicting ice-out will be on the 24th. He's very often right on target, so perhaps we ought to start
to him now. Let's hope he's right on target, or at least close.
Judging by the rapid changes we see today, I think it's entirely possible that over the next few days we're going to see the ice breaking up quickly into sheets, and floating around fast.
The Pine Island Monster is definately working hard - he's been in the same spot for quite a while today.
