If you have internet, try Pandora. You create themed "radio stations", and if you tell it what you do and don't like, it becomes amazing good at picking songs that I like.

The free version limits you to I think 30 hours a month and limited "skips", but if you spring for the $40/year subscription, you get unlimited hours and skips.

Most of the "smart tv" boxes can get Pandora too (at least googletv and boxee do). You can listen on your cell phone too, but be careful of your data caps if you have one.
