Very true that traveling in left lane is illegal. In southern NH, on the northbound side, there used to be large billboard type green signs depicting travel on right and passing on left. I was taught that in driver's ed!

Police take it very serious in Europe; travel left, and you will soon have a faster vehicle flashing their headlights right behind you, or the police!
Keep an eye on your rear view mirror; they consider it a courtesy advisory message to flash headlights from way behind, if they are faster. There is a real reason auto engineers designed the headlight flasher in vehicles!
