In my local paper we have a "Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down" column. One can post a totally anonymous comment there, as opposed to writing and signing a letter to the editor.

People feel like they can say whatever they wish there...because they can. If a comment is posted, it's not edited, and folks sling all kinds of negativity there.

I think a "Thumbs Down" button here would engender more negativity than is necessary. If you disagree with me, please let me know why. Take a moment and state your argument. Don't just toss out, "You're wrong" and walk away. Sometimes we need to be shown the other side of the coin.
