We used to see them all the time up in Maine, at least a half a dozen during the course of snowmobile season. We have not seen them for a few years now; I inquired as to why there seem to be fewer sightings and was told they are competing for the same food source as the coyote.
Since the coyote population is exploding it leaves less and less food for the bobcats and lynx.
