Living the "Retail life" for 15 years in my younger days this was always a point of contention.
What is acceptable??? Sir? Madam? Mr? Mrs?.... NONE of those would make every customer happy... NONE! In fact, some of those respectful names will anger "customers"
Next time any of you hear this from a retail clerk just remember, they just want to make sure your visit is friendly.
