I'm sitting in one of those Amoskeag buildings right now. I own # 10 and we are very proud and privileged to share the history of the great Amoskeag Manufacturing. Yes it was the biggest textile producer in the world and yes Manchester's name came from the other great textile producer Manchester England.
I have a framed listing of stats from 1907.
incorporated in 1830
13,000 employees
Weekly payroll $112,000
550,000 spindles making
200,200,000 yards of cotton per year
110 acres of floor space
34 turbine water wheels making 16,488 hp
