Actually, the idea 2 weeks to effectiveness has been around for a long time. It clearly is not effective 2 hours after you get it; but it probably is most effective a few weeks, 2 is a good guess, after getting it. The body’s immune system is complicated and does not rely on one single thing happening. And the immune response does vary with the vaccines themselves. It is not like a drug that you take and we know when it starts to work.
Bottom line, 2 weeks seems as good an informed guess as any. And the same uncertainty exists as to how long the effect lasts.
