Definitely a Brown
No, that is definitely a brown trout.
The brown trout you show in the picture is simply one variation of color. The color can vary depending on maturity level, type of water, feed availability, hatchery raised or wild, etc, etc. Many brown trout are actually mistaken for salmon. The thickness of the body just forward of the tail and the coloration of the adipose fin is a good way to tell them apart.
Another dead giveaway that this is a brown trout are the red and black dots on the side with a halo looking outer ring. While you can't see the red dots in the pic, you can easily see the black halo like dots which guarantees this is a brown trout. A rainbow trout does not have the dot halo characteristics.
