Since before I moved up here things in the Laconia area have been going down hill.
Most manufacturing has left this area and gone elsewhere. Laconia has one of the highest tax rates around so who wants to move their business or even live there. Belmont has the same problem.
For years I've noticed for rent, and for sale signs sitting up for longer and longer periods.
Laconia's crime and drug problems have been getting worse with the economy.
Yup the lakes a great place but some of the surrounding areas have the same problems as many inner cities do.
