Help for a new fisherman

Hi,
I just moved to Moultonboro this past October and was hoping to start fishing. As I've never fished before, was hoping on getting some basic questions answered.
  1. Where can I buy a seasonal fishing license?
  2. Where would be a good place to get started off of Moultonboro neck, my house is walking distance to Trexlers, as I have no boat yet?
  3. Where in the area should I buy my equipment from, and ask for advice?
  4. When can I start?
Thanks for any advice...

Dan

Hey Danwas44; Welcome to the fishing scene on Winni. You want to go see Alan at Aj's Bait & Tackle nn Main Street in Meredith. He has everything you need- licenses, equipment and most important a very broad knowledge of all things fishing. There is very good fishing from the shores all around the Long Island bridge just past Trexlers. Good Luck

once they open up the docks in Meredith I hear there is some good fishing there, my friend fishes there quite a lot, he saw a pretty good size salmon come out last year, I think it was 31" if memory serves me correct.

Depends on what you are fishing for...

Salmon/Trout. Or Bass? Check out www.fishlakewinni.com for salmon and lake trout tips info etc. You might also hook up with a guide for some lessons on the fishing in the lake. Bass fishing, checkout www.nhsmallmouth.com
Hope this helps.

The last I knew

The last I knew, Trexlers handled fishing license. Now as for fishing as was mentioned right around the LI bridge is an excellent place to start. The another good piece of advise is to just start talking to people. Although no angler is going to tell you where his "sweet spot" is, most I have found are willing to talk and give advice. And last find yourself a nice little row boat with a small motor and get out there and fish. (however in a small row boat the weekends aren't always recomendable).

See ya Sunday

Hi Guys,
Hey, thanks for the information, I am familiar with where Al's place is in Meredith, I'll stop in this saturday. Also, the LI bridge does seem like a good safe place to start.

Can't wait!!!
