Water Filtration System for Arsenic and Uranium

Turns out a routine water test for my well was anything but routine. I'm over the allowable limit for arsenic and uranium (I didn't test for the uranium but the State lab in Concord found it while doing a follow-up arsenic speciation test).

I'm getting a couple of estimates from folks mentioned elsewhere in the forum (Integrated Water and Thursty). But has anyone used A&B Water Systems in Meredith (Tom Calderone)? I'm getting a wide range of costs and treatment alternatives from the various water consultants.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Try Terry Morerod.

Lakes Region Pump and Irrigation.

He used to run a few muni water systems and is very well versed in filtration and treatment. 99% of the time he'll save you some $$ too.

No matter who you use, you might want to lab test the tap water after a week or so running the new system. Perhaps the contractor will do the test.

follow up?

Whimsey-

I just got a similar surprise . Ours wasn't a routine test, we've recently developed a sulfer problem and high levels of arsenic were also discovered. Who knows how long we've been drinking it! A valuable lesson was learned.

Who did you use? And dare I ask... how bad was it?

thanks

I use Gilford Well for maintenance and installations of my customers propertys. They are not the cheapest but when dealing with water that you might be putting in your body, is this something you really want to do on the cheap?

Absolutely not! We're having an extensive filtration system put in - was just looking for recommendations and to prepare myself for what I knew would be a big number.

We went with Thursty. They'll be doing the work in mid-February. And I can't wait 'til it's done! It may just be peace of mind - but I can't wait to get every dish, glass and spoon washed!

I think arsenic is very common in our area.

Sorry, I had been out of town and didn't see your question. I used A&B Water Systems over in Laconia http://www.fixyourwater.com 800-613-0121. Tom Calderone.

They were substantially cheaper than others mentioned. Gilford Wells never returned my calls. Thursty were pleasant but never came up with a solution. Cost was about $3K.

I am glad to see I am not the only one who was ignored by Gilford Well & Pump. They installed a system at my camp and when I wanted them to modify it (stop outside spicket water from being run through the filter system) I was ignored.
